RKS Vinyl Design + Video Promotion

Objective — Choose one band or musician from one genre of your choice and create a conceptual record sleeve and insert based on the interpretation of the music on the album chosen.

Concept — Rainbow Kitten Surprise (RKS) is an alternative indie band. Their music focuses on various human emotions and places emphasis on the overall human experience. My concept focuses on the idea of transcending beyond the material world in order to gain a true understanding of other people and how we relate to them. The sleeve includes cooler and warmer hues to represent the highs and lows of emotions. Each panel represents a distinct emotion, and it contains a corresponding collectible “tarot card” (the insert). The overall theme is imperfection which includes ripped paper, stretched typography and images, and contrast of extended and narrow (body copy) typography. The video includes a compilation of human emotions.
